The MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais Public Security Service confirms the death of a 21-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man in a collision that occurred yesterday, January 31, shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Hwy 105 in the La Pêche sector of Farrellton.
Both victims were in the same vehicle which was heading north. As for the second vehicle, the two occupants, aged 32 and 63 respectively, were transported to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries but non-life threatening.
At this time, it is still too early for investigators to determine the exact cause and circumstances of why the victims’ vehicle was in the oncoming lane. Several factors could have played a role in this loss of control such as: the weather conditions, the state of the road or the state of the vehicle.
It should be noted that depending on the results of the collision investigation, it is possible that other aggravating factors may have contributed. It is therefore an evolving investigation.
At this time it is impossible to determine if alcohol or drugs contributed to the collision as the results of the toxicology tests will not be known until later. As for the victims’ vehicle, it will undergo a complete mechanical inspection in the next few days.
