A 68-year-old driver from Stittsville was arrested on June 1 at around 8:20 p.m. on MacLaren Road in La Pêche following a case of road rage in which he literally ran over the victim’s motorcycle with his SUV.
The conflict between the 2 drivers began a few minutes earlier, when they were southbound on route 105 between the municipality of Low and the Wakefield sector of La Pêche, where there were several passings and incidents between the two parties. Once on Chemin MacLaren, the 2 vehicles came to an abrupt stop, at which point the suspect ran over the victim’s motorcycle.
The man arrested, who has no criminal record, is expected to be charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and dangerous driving. As for the victim, a 33-year-old man from Gatineau, he should receive fines for not having his motorcycle registered and insured.
The incident considerably disrupted traffic for several minutes.
