A 23-year-old Ottawa woman was arrested shortly after 05:00 for refusing to provide a breath sample following a road collision in Val-des-Monts. She herself had contacted the police to report the incident, but had also mentioned that the crash was caused by another motorist, who subsequently fled the scene.

Once on the scene, the officers quickly realized that the woman’s initial version of events had by no means corresponded with reality. As a result, her vehicle was impounded for 30 days, her driver’s licence suspended for 90 days, and she will have to appear in court at a later date. She also received a fine of $175 and 3 points for failing to make a mandatory stop, and a fine of $509 for providing false information to officers.

It should be noted that other police officers had intervened with this lady earlier in the night following a noise complaint against the occupants of a nearby airbnb. During this visit, all occupants were warned not to drink and drive
