The MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais Municipal Court is a first-level Court. The Court hears penal and civil cases.
When established in 1997, the Court’s jurisdiction extends over the whole territory of MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais.
Then in 2007, the Municipal Court of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais becomes responsible for the administration of traffic and by-law offences issued by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) on the territory of the MRC de Papineau as well as for those in the municipalities of Low, Kazabazua and Lac Sainte-Marie.
Since 2016 the Municipal Court is also responsible for Statements of Offence issued by the SQ on the MRC Vallée-de-la-Gatineau’s territory.
Under penal matters, the Court receives and hears complaints filed for the non-respect of the following by-laws adopted by prosecuting municipalities: traffic and parking, peace and good conduct, noise, nuisance, alarm systems, animals and urban planning. Furthermore, the Court can rule in matters filed under certain provincial laws such as the Highway Safety Code and the Off-Road Vehicle Act. Adult offenders as well as those of minor age, fall under this Court’s jurisdiction.
Under civil matters, the Court hears recourse to recover unpaid municipal taxes, costs of permits and licenses as well as other tariff applicable costs set in by-laws of the prosecuting municipalities.
The Honourable Judge Slobodan Delev presides at the Court and Mr. Olivier Gosselin and his team act as prosecutors for the Court.
