The MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais Municipal Court is a first level court having competence to hear cases filed under penal and civil matters. Since 1997, the Municipal Court has jurisdiction on the territory of the municipalities which form part of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais.
Since 2007, the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais Municipal Court manages traffic and by-law offences issued by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) on the territory of the MRC Papineau.
The municipal Court is also responsible for the administration of the Statements of Offence issued by the SQ on the MRC Vallée-de-la-Gatineau’s territory. Since 2007, the Court has been responsible for the administration of the Statements of Offence issued on the territories of Low, Kazabazua and Lac Ste-Marie. The other fourteen municipalities on the territory of the MRC Vallée-de-la-Gatineau officially joined the Court on October 20, 2016.
Under penal matters, complaints filed by the municipalities for by-laws adopted by them are heard at the Court. These by-law offences are: parking and traffic, peace and good conduct, noise, nuisance, alarm systems, animals and town planning. Furthermore, the Court has jurisdiction to judge matters under provincial laws such as the Highway Safety Code and the Off-Road Vehicle Act. Adults as well as minors fall under the jurisdiction of Court.
Under civil matters, the Court has jurisdiction to judge matters concerning the recovery of unpaid municipal taxes, costs of permits and licenses as well as other tariff applicable costs set by the municipalities.
The Honorable Judge Slobodan Delev presides at the Court and Mr. Martin Gosselin and his team act as Prosecutors for the plaintiff.
